greg,

here are a couple of the pics keaton sent me…let me know if u can’t open them or have problems viewing them. i wrote my thoughts on the outfitter and a paragraph on the events leading to me killing my deer. i tend to be a little long winded….so use or don’t use whatever u want!! LOL

as far as the hunt goes here is my thoughts on the outfitter:
Keaton and his staff were top notch, friendly, and fun to be around. Each day they were just as excited, if not more excited, than us “the hunters” about getting out there and hunting their BIG kansas deer. Mark, one of the guides, told me the first day i arrived that they wanted us to kill a trophy deer more than we did. After spending a week with these guys, i truly believe that!! The cabin was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. To say that Keaton’s wife Karen is good cook is an understatement!! When Keaton said we could expect to gain a few pounds while on the hunt, he wasn’t joking!!! All in all, i couldn’t have expected more out of a hunt and will definately be returning for some more kansas whitetail action!!

as for the deer i killed:
Keaton sat me in a box stand where they believed a “hot doe” was hanging out. Before going out that evening, he told me to text him when i started having some movement. Around 3:30pm a doe walked out into the field, i texted keaton that i had one walk out and his response was “its started, have fun!!”. From that point on, i couldn’t even sit my binoculars down. Several young bucks came out feeding and checking out the does. All evening different deer kept popping in and out of the thick timber and the field. It was getting close to dark and i had glassed several young bucks throughout the evening but nothing I believed to be a shooter. Then, off at a distance, a good buck was making his way through a thick patch of woods. All i could see was a set of big white horns beating through the brush. Then, behind him another set of horns followed. Both racks had my heart racing, but i couldn’t make out a body to go with either set of horns. After watching the horns disappear back into the brush, i was disappointed but still excited from all the sightings and action from the evening. Watching a few does feed, I was about ready to call it a night as daylight was fading, but to my suprise here came my polished white 10pt trotting through the field with his head down and on a mission!! With light fading fast, i had a quick decsion to make. This deer was definately the biggest i had ever encountered, he appeared to be a “shooter”, so i took him while i had the shot. I was extremely excited to see him drop! As i gathered myself and texted keaton the good news, it was all quickly overshadowed when i looked up to see a buck step out that was BIGGER than the one i had just shot!! As i watched this monster 8pt walk through, i just thought to myself….Next Year!! For now, i’m EXTREMELY happy with my 10pt and my first trophy whitetail!
