Below is a description of Alaska’s most unique hunt. How about the opportunity to hunt Roosevelts Elk, Blacktail Sitka Deer and Seaducks all in the same hunt! If your looking for something different then this one is worth checking out.

If you want more details on this hunt give me a call Greg Ray 918 407 2586 or email

greg@outdoor-connection.com

Roosevelt elk/Sitka blacktail deer/sea duck hunt

This is a 7 day 2×2 guided trophy hunt being conducted from a heated tent camp in the State Park on the northwest corner of Afognak island. The area in which this hunt is to be conducted is inaccessable by float plane and has not been hunted in many years. Access to the camp is by a charter boat and is quite technical. A 14 ft inflatable raft is to used to get to the beach and for hunting sea ducks.

The terrain consists of open tidal flats and estuaries, open parks and meadows interdispersed between stands of Sitka Spruce and alder patches, and grassy mountain slopes with southern exposures.

The method of hunting is spot and stalk and still hunting. Trophy bulls are found within the immediate vicinity of herds of elk and often in small bachler groups. Trophy bucks are in the rut and can be called into hunter.

Mature branched antlered bulls are available in the 280 to 300 SCI gross score range. An average trophy score for bucks are 95 SCI with the potential for B&C animals.

3 color phases of Red fox inhabit the area and 2 fox are allowed on a hunting license at no additional cost.

12 of the 14 species of Sea ducks that inhabit the Kodiak archepelago can be accessed from camp. Decoy sets are deployed adjacent to the beach and some species can be drifted up on with the raft. See my web site for a discription of the various species to be hunted.

This hunt is one of the most unique hunts up here. These species of animals are the “exotics” of Alaska.

The hunt date is Nov. 12th-18th

The price is $12,000

The hunter must be in Kodiak 2 days prior to the hunt to register with Fish and Game during business hours Monday – Friday.
