If you are looking for an all around elk hunting experience, then you need to take a look at this Montana outfitter. Not only is he very successfull on his elk hunts but he offers the full experience as well. From the time you mount up on the packstring for the horseback ride to camp to putting the crosshairs on that bull of a lifetime, my outfitters offers it all. We had fantastic success in 2011 and believe 2012 will be even better. We had archery bulls taken from the 340′s to rifle bulls in the 370′s for the 2011 elk season. Spots are already filling up and the application deadline is just around the corner. For more details on this outfitter give me a call. Check out all of the added 2011 Montana pictures here http://blog.fishandhunttheworld.com/photo-album/?album=16

-It is not uncommon for our hunters to fill both their elk and mule deer tags during the combination hunts.

-The terrain we hunt consists of open meadows surrounded by thick green timber. 10,000 acres of the national forest was burned 20 years ago. This recovering area is a verdant, rich feeding ground for the resident elk and mule deer herds.

-Our main camp site is located in a wilderness area, which is a roadless area and no motorized vehicles are allowed. A two hour horseback ride from the trailhead will get you to the hunters’ tents, cook tent, horse corrals and shower tent. The elevation here is just under 6000 feet.

-We hunt both elk and mule deer from 5500 to 8000 feet elevation. We saddle horses every morning before daylight and after eating a hearty breakfast, head out for the day’s hunt. The majority of both elk and deer we kill are within 3 miles of the campsite. We use horses throughout the hunt because we can cover more country in a shorter amount of time, making it easier on the hunter.

Most of your antlered species hunts are now over, if you still have the hunting itch then take a look at one of these species. I have prime spots available for Wolf in Alberta, Aoudad in Texas, and Mountain Lion available in several states.

Mountain Lion Hunts

Mountain lion numbers have definitely increased in my area over the past several years giving hunters an excellent chance to harvest a trophy tom. These are strictly fair chase hunts and they have ran a 95% success rate on good mature cats for the past 24 years. Your hunt will be scheduled for specific
dates but because the winter months have varying weather and hunting
conditions, you will need to be somewhat flexible. Included in the cost of the hunt is all lodging, meals, transportation including to and from the Boise airport, guide fees and trophy care. State sales tax and gratuities not included.

Wolf Hunts

If you are up to a challenge, this is the hunt for you. Wolves are the “Ghosts of the Rockies”, and Alberta’s
hardest trophy. They are big (up to 180 lbs) and smart; these crafty canines don’t come easy, but well worth the patience. We combine wolf hunts with coyote hunting . Wolf Hunts are conducted using heated blinds over bait and calling. We are Alberta’s Premier wolf outfitters taking more wolf hunters than any other outfitters.

Aoudad

Indigenous to the Atlas Mountains, Chad and Barbary Coast of Northern Africa, Aoudad Sheep were introduced to West Texas in the early 1950’s. They have since flourished and found their home in some of the Trans-Pecos region’s rugged mountain ranges, including the Davis, Glass and Chinati Mountains. Best of all, this magnificent trophy could be the best sheep hunting value in the world.

We lease and oversee over 140,000 acres of private land on four different ranches in Presidio, Jeff Davis, and Culberson counties in West Texas. This is some of the most premier free-ranging Aoudad habitat in the state without exception.

With their eyesight being their basic means of defense, Aoudad are extremely wary
and inhabit some of the most inaccessible terrain. This trip requires extreme physical
capability since elevations range from 4000 feet to 7000 feet in some of the
roughest and most isolated country in Texas. On a typical hunt, most time is spent getting
into these areas on foot carrying a daypack and your rifle, looking for a
trophy ram, and then closing the distance with a heart-pounding stalk. During your hunt you can expect to see 50 to
200 sheep in a four-day hunt. In some cases during the rut in September and October, we have seen herds of over 200 animals. With the luxury of having numerous sheep ranches leased, we can determine which one is best for the time
of year you choose to hunt and can move accordingly to that property. Generally the best months to hunt are September through the end of March. Mature rams will have a live body weight of 300+ lbs and horns up to 34”+ in length.
Our clients have averaged 10-year-old rams measuring 29 ½” in length, with some being in excess of 34”. These
particular hunts have had 90% success rates on mature sheep since our inception
in 1994. Please feel free to call anytime to consult with us about physical preparation and limitations for this
trip.

Being a dad and having the opportunity to hunt with my kids is one of the greatest experiences ever. Hearing from clients that have taken their kids hunting with one of my outfitters and bagging their first antlered animal has to run a very close second.

I had the opportunity to arrange a hunt for Smith family this year and it turned out to be one their best family experiences ever. The Smith’s made this a complete family affair with Mom and Dad tagging along while the boys hunted whitetail bucks here in my home state of Oklahoma. I set them up with one of my outfitters that my 12 year old son and I have hunted with on several occassions so I knew they would not be disappointed. Troy, (my outfitter) is great with kids and very patient, he has a very comfortable lodge with all the ammenities and fantastic home cooked meals. In four days of hunting both of the boys were able to harvest their first bucks.

Here is what Mrs. Smith had to say in a recent email…

Wasn’t sure if you had talked to Troy or not about our
trip; we wanted to personally say thanks because it was an amazing experience
for our family.

Both boys got themselves an 8 point, and they couldn’t
have been more excited over the whole thing.

Thanks again,

The Smith Family

Greg Ray 918 407 2586 or email greg@fishandhunttheworld.com

Mike and I had a great time. Todd and his son guided us each
to a moose, a black bear, and a mule deer. Our primary goal was to bag a
moose and we were certainly not disappointed. The rut was on and the
bulls were more active than normal. On the evening of our first full day
of hunting, Mike shot a nice bull. These moose are huge and I was shocked
at how much he weighted. We were fortunate he dropped not far from a road
so that we could haul him back to camp after getting help so that seven of us
could get him into the truck. We continued to hunt for my moose and took
the bears and mule deer while searching for a monster bull. We
passed on several smaller bulls while awaiting for a chance at a 50 inch
bull. We got responses from several rutting bulls but the days passed
without a really large bull showing. We finally saw a real shooter
but I was not able to get a clear shot. (Mike could have dropped him
easily since he did have a clear look at less than 60 yards!)

I was down to the last two days of the hunt when Mike suddenly
shouted “Huge Bull”! I got a little excited and missed
my first shot. Dropped him on my second shot. My 50 inch bull is at the taxidermy shop and I expect to get the shoulder mount next year. By the way, on the last dayof our hunt, Mike and Todd saw an even larger bull that stood for pictures at
70 yards and kept milling around for 30 minutes. Of course, no one had an unfilled tag so he’s still there for next year.

Thanks for a great hunt.

This outfitter is a family run operation that offers big game hunting for Mule Deer, Moose, Whitetail Deer and Elk throughout central and southern Alberta for both rifle and archery hunters. They have received multiple awards for harvesting the largest species in their respective categories over the past few years. Each year at the annual Alberta Professional Outfitter’s Society Convention, there are only eight awards available to the Province’s 450 outfitters for species hunted by them and the odds of winning one of these coveted awards is less than 2%. This past year, we received the award for the ‘Largest Elk, Archery on an Outfitted Hunt’. They recently also received the award for the ‘Largest Mule Deer, Archery on an Outfitted hunt’. In previous years they have also won the award for the ‘Largest Whitetail – Archery on an Outfitted Hunt’ on two occasions and the award for the ‘Largest Moose – Archery on an Outfitted Hunt’. Theyhave access to the best area and guides in the province!

They are the only outfitter in the province that has won awards for each of our big game (Mule Deer, Moose, Whitetail Deer and Elk)

All of their ‘camps’ are customized, small and personal with typically only 2 to 4 hunters, the guide(s) and a cook in any one camp. They pride ourselves in their sharp pricing, small camps and excellent service. They do not use a central facility, such as a lodge, as that would severely restrict our hunting options. Instead they operate many small camps located where the animals are, not where it might be more financially advantageous to them. They also have the capacity to accommodate larger groups upon request, however the daily hunting parties would be broken up using several different guides to spread the hunters out and provide more manageable opportunities for each individual hunter.

Hey Greg

Just a note to let you know that I still have openings for drop camp elk hunters 2nd and 3rd season. I’ll take one hunter even. Dates are Oct 21-27 or Nov 6-12. I also have a great archery rut eastern plains mule deer hunt that should be fantastic. No other hunters during the rut and I have 2 land owner tags. Normal price is $5500 each plus 1K land owner voucher . I’ll do the hunt for half on my end. So $2750 plus the land owner still has his fee of 1K for the voucher totaling $3750. A top notch trophy unit. Dates are mid November in the rut.. I also have a Muzzle Loader Antelope buck land owner tag hunt for 2K including the land owner voucher. The biggest buck on the 30,000 acre ranch did not get harvested, so he’s still out there. Season dates are Oct 20 – 28 any 3 days or until succesfull. 100% success in the past.

It was finally my turn to get out in the field and have some fun. My first hunt for 2011, I chose one of our Kansas outfitters for whitetail. This is a more of a semi guided hunt where I took care of my own lodging (very nice state cabins right on a lake) which was only a 10 minute drive to the hunting grounds.

Upon arrival I met with the outfitter, where he produced aerial photos of his hunting property that included marked spots for each of his tree stands. He went over each stand with me and made suggestions on how to hunt each one. We then toured the parameter of the property, which was a heavily wooded area with several creeks running through it and surrounded by grasslands.

The outfitter had mowed trails starting approximately one quarter of a mile away from the edge of the timber where the trail continued through the woods to each very well marked treestand. I never had any problem finding my stands in the dark.

During my hunt I encountered shooter bucks every eveing (mornings were a bit slow, I’m guess since it was mid September) On my third evening just before last shooting light another Kansas Trophy Whitetail showed himself at less than 90 yards from my stand, not too sure where he came from, he was just there. I knew right away that I would not have to think about this one. Since the buck was facing me head on, (he was looking at the doe directly below my stand) I had my crosshairs on him for what seemed like an eternity, I could literally see it getting darker in my scope. Finally, he presented me with the shot I needed and after the smoke cleared all I could see was this massive buck running for cover where he disappeared. Seconds later I could hear a deer running behind my stand and was not too sure if it was him or the doe that had been below my stand.

I sat in my stand until it was dark and decided to see if I could find blood. I went directly to the spot I had marked and found nothing, no blood, no hair, nothing! You know how it goes, you start doubting yourself and wonder if you pulled the shot or shot over his back. After a short search of the area I found a massive pool of blood that confirmed 250 grains of Barnes Copper had hit its mark. It only took another 20 yards and there was 250 pounds of Kansas Whitetail piled up with evidence of a double lung shot on his side.

A phone call to my outfitter and a 30 minute wait was all it took to get my hero shots and this big boy loaded into the back of the truck.

If you are looking for a budget Kansas Trophy Whitetail hunt, then I would highly recommend this outfitter. He did a great job of familiarizing me with the area and stands, it was obvious that he had spent time preparing for hunters to show up.
